Early Years and Youth Career
Kennedi's athletic journey began with the Erin Mills Eagles in Mississauga, Ontario, where she competed in the Ontario Youth Soccer League (OYSL). Her impressive performances at the youth level caught the attention of college scouts, leading to a scholarship at Armstrong State University in Savannah, Georgia.
College Success
At Armstrong State, Kennedi flourished as part of a Division II team that achieved national recognition, ranking third during her tenure. The team made significant strides in the NCAA tournament, reaching the round of 16 or elite eight in three out of four years. These accomplishments not only solidified her status as a formidable player but also set the stage for her future contributions to the sport.
Return to Ontario and Coaching Career
After completing her collegiate career, Kennedi returned to Ontario, where she continued to excel as a player with the Woodbridge Strikers in League 1 Ontario. In 2021, she helped lead the team to a league title, showcasing her competitive spirit and leadership on the field.
Transitioning to coaching in 2022, Kennedi's influence grew as she won her second consecutive League 1 title, this time as part of the coaching staff with NDC-O. Her coaching success further extended to youth soccer, where she guided North Mississauga Soccer Club and Liverpool International FCIA to multiple indoor and futsal Ontario Cup championships. She has served as the head coach for both North Mississauga Soccer Club's League 1 and League 2 teams, as well as the U13 and U14 girls OPDL teams.
Kennedi's expertise did not go unnoticed at the collegiate level, as she joined York University as an assistant coach for the women's varsity team. In her first year, she helped the team finish second in the OUA and secure a spot at Nationals in Laval, marking a significant achievement in her coaching career.
Current Roles and Future Endeavors
Kennedi continues to shape young athletes' development while holding an operations role with the Canadian Youth National teams at the U17 and U20 levels.
As Kennedi embarks on a new chapter with the Halifax Tides, serving as an Assistant Coach and Video Analyst, alongside her role as Associate Head Coach at Acadia University, she remains passionate about promoting quality female soccer for youth players. With her extensive experience and dedication, Kennedi is poised to inspire the next generation of athletes and continue building a successful soccer program.
